CELEBRATING BRIAN --a poem in tribute to Brian by Marty Foster We, on this planet, have lost a man among men, a husband, a father and grandfather, a friend among friends. He was our gift, our champion, our mate. Need a hand painting, Brian was there. Need a hand moving furniture, Brian was there. Need a hand installing a light under the stairs, Brian was there. Need a driver, a reservation maker, a navigator, a dishwasher, a friendly face, Brian was there. He enjoyed the rhythms of good music, He enjoyed a good joke, a good meal, a good book. He enjoyed a fine Scotch and a quality conversation to match. He enjoyed a good card game and rarely allowed an opponent's singleton "5" to lose a nello trick. We will remember his laugh, We will remember his strength and endurance, We will remember his work ethic, But most of all, we will remember his acceptance of others. It was always brilliant. Brian was an ambassador of goodwill to all of us. He claimed no one religion but understood and practiced the essence of them all. He saw beauty in Mother Nature's landscapes, in art, in ideas, animals, children playing, and the intricacies of a complicated engineering design. He appreciated tradition but was not held captive by it. He always did his best and appreciated the same in others. We, on this planet, have lost a man among men, a husband, a father and grandfather, a friend among friends. He was our gift, our champion, our mate.
